Identity security score and cost calculator
SHORT ANSWER
Editorial assessment · Desk research from public vendor material · Reviewed 2026-09-29
The scores are the same ones on each topic page. Only the weights change. Set a slider to 0 to ignore a criterion, or to 10 to make it count most. Costs appear only where a vendor publishes a per-user price; we do not estimate prices a vendor has not published.

How the calculator works
Re-weighted score = sum of (criterion score x your weight) / sum of your weights, rounded to one decimal. Annual cost = published price per user per month x users x 12, raised to the vendor's published minimum where one exists. Value = re-weighted score / (annual cost / users / 12).
Scores are editorial assessments from public vendor material. Prices are as published on each vendor's page on 2026-09-29 and change often; check the vendor's page before relying on a figure.
With the sliders at their starting positions the re-weighted scores equal the totals on the topic pages, because each slider starts at the published weight divided by five.
Questions
How do I use the calculator?
Choose a topic, then move the sliders. Each slider is how much a criterion counts, from 0 (ignore it) to 10 (counts most). The ranking updates as you move them, and the URL updates so you can share the result.
Why are there no costs for most topics?
Because the vendors in those topics do not publish per-unit prices on the pages we reviewed. We show what each vendor does publish, such as a free tier, and do not estimate the rest.
Do the sliders change the underlying scores?
No. The criterion scores and their written reasons stay as published on each topic page. Only the weights change, so the total moves.
How is the annual cost calculated for workforce IAM?
Published price per user per month, times your user count, times 12. Where a vendor publishes a minimum, such as Okta's $1,500 annual minimum or Ping's 5,000-user minimum, the minimum applies. Discounts, taxes and add-ons are not included.
